More Charming Earrings

Items needed

  • Two Charms (usually matching)
  • Two Eye Pins (to match the metal of the charms)
  • Four Decorative Head Pins (to match the metal of the charms)
  • Eight 4mm Crystal Beads in One Color
  • Four 6mm Crystal Beads in a Complimentary Color
  • Two 7mm Jump Rings

Create Charm Center
  1. Open the loop on one of the eye pins and attach a charm to that loop.
  2. Place beads on the eye pin in this order 1 - 4mm bead, 1 - 6mm bead, 1 - 4mm bead.
  3. Cut the remaining eye pin to only allow just over 1/2 inch of metal sticking from the top of the beads.
  4. Use the Jeweler Looping Method to create a top loop (Hold the pliers approx 1/2 inch from the end of the wire and bend it at a 90-degree angle. Then grab the end of the bent portion of the wire with the pliers and tightly wrap it around them creating a complete circle.)

Create Supporting Charms
  1. Place beads on a decorative head pin in this order 1 - 6mm, 1 - 4mm.
  2. Cut the remaining eye pin to only allow just over 1/2 inch of metal sticking from the top of the beads.
  3. Use the Jeweler Looping Method to create a top loop
  4. On the second decorative head pin, place beads in this order 1 - 4mm then 1 - 6mm.
  5. Cut the remaining eye pin to only allow just over 1/2 inch of metal sticking from the top of the beads.
  6. Use the Jeweler Looping Method to create a top loop

Bringing it together 

Open a jump ring and thread the pieces on in this order Ear Wire, first decorative head pin bead, charm bead dangle, and second decorative head pin. When you close the jump ring, you will see your completed earring creation.

Repeat these instructions for the second earring.

Charming Nature Earrings

If you want to make a fun variation of the first earring design for a gardener or nature lover you know, try this: 

Items Needed:
  • Two Butterfly, Lady Bug or Dragonfly Charms
  • Eight Eye Pins
  • 16 Small to Medium Flowery Colored or Shaped Beads (these can be more than one style or design)
  • Four Small Leaf Beads
  • Six Jump Rings

Create Charm Center
  1. Open the loop on one of the eye pins and attach a charm to that loop.
  2. Place two beads on the eye pin.
  3. Cut the remaining eye pin to only allow just over 1/2 inch of metal sticking from the top of the beads.

  1. Thread the loop on an eye pin and a leaf bead onto one jump ring and close the jump ring.
  2. Add two beads to the eye pin.
  3. Cut the remaining eye pin to only allow just over 1/2 inch of metal sticking from the top of the beads.
  4. Use the Jeweler Looping Method to create a top loop.
  5. Repeat this step for a second dangle.

Bringing it together 

Open a jump ring and thread the pieces on in this order Ear Wire, first leaf dangle, charm bead dangle, and second leaf dangle. When you close the jump ring, you will see your completed earring creation.

Charming Circles

This pair of earrings is going to create a frame for the focus charm you decide to display. The beaded hoop will be created out of seed beads and a few larger accent beads with a charm dangling in the midst of the hoop. 

Items Needed:
  • Two Charms
  • Two Ear Wires
  • 100 Seed Beads (in the same or complimentary colors)
  • Two - 8 Inch Pieces of Beading Wire
  • Two Crimping Beads
  • Four Accent 4mm Beads
  • Two Accent 6mm Beads
  • Crimping Tool
  • Jeweler's Pliers
  • Wire Cutters

Creating the Hoop
  1. Take 1 piece of beading wire and thread in the following combination - 22 seed beads, 4 mm bead, 3 seed beads, 6 mm bead, 3 seed beads, 4 mm bead, 22 seed beads.
  2. Thread a crimping bead onto the wire, and then thread the other end through the crimping bead from the opposite direction (as you pull both wire ends through this should have created a circle).
  3. Use a crimping tool to tighten the crimping bead.
  4. Cut any remaining wire off.
  5. Repeat to create the second hoop.

Putting the pieces together
  1. Using your round tipped jeweler's pliers carefully open the hooking loop on the ear wire.
  2. First, place the hoop on the loop (the area where your crimping bead is should be in the ear wire loop.
  3. Next, put the charm on the loop.
  4. Close the hoop.
  5. Repeat for second earring.
